PRISM virus
is new clone of police themed ransomware that holds computers ransom by
injecting their computers with a malware infection. The notice purportedly from
PRISM computer crime prosecution section alleges that the user is caught
violating laws. The notice displays fake law violations to scam user into
paying money.
Though it is
a fake notice since it claims from legal institutions many people easily get
carried away by the message. Moreover the locking of computer convinces user
that the message is genuine. It is true that the computer has been locked but
it is not locked by police but with a screen locker program designed by
hackers.
The virus
program is aimed at unwary computer users but they get easily scammed into
believing that the message is genuine and end up paying fine. The fake notice
claims that the computer has been used in visiting child porno websites and downloading
copyright software. There is no need to worry about the so called fine and the
prosecution threat. Remember that legal enforcement institutions are not in the
interest of taking over computer and demand fine to restore PC.
The hackers
use a Trojan to inject malware infection onto a computer. Once the Trojan gets
inside it downloads and installs dangerous malware to carry out its vicious
task. The virus program is propagated through malicious websites and by
downloading infected attachments.
